This course focuses on concepts of adaptation nursing related to protective needs: integumentary, oncologic, immunologic, protective sensory systems, activity and rest, and safety; and, metabolic needs: fluid, electrolyte, and acid-base balance and problems of nutrition, digestion, elimination, and excretion. The adaptation model and evidence-based practices are used to promote the highest potential for individuals and families of varying developmental levels and cultures within a variety of healthcare settings. The lab, clinical, and simulation contact hours meet the Missouri State Board of Nursing guidelines for the credit hours awarded. Offered spring and fall.
